Commercial Boat Operators Association
David Lowe is chairman of the Commercial Boat Operators Association, the national trade association for barge and other commercial craft operators on the UK’s inland waterways. He has personal experience of barge operations over many years.
Modern Day Use of barges, especially in the recycling business
Modern barges can carry 500 tonnes each – and more. They can take traffic off congested roads. Due to their fuel efficiency, they produce far less pollution than lorries. So using barges helps meet corporate social responsibility targets. Most of the UK ports are served by major inland waterways and so are well placed for exports/imports. The speaker will discuss the opportunities in the recycling and waste industry.
