Dr Pete Armstrong
Pete is an engineer who spent a few years working on hybrid electric vehicles before starting a PhD at Oxford on energy storage systems. Pete led Oxford’s electric car team and won the technical innovation award at the Shell Eco Marathon before starting Mixergy with his co-founder, Dr Ren Kang.
The Internet of Tanks
Mixergy is a spin-out from Oxford University who’ve developed the first intelligent hot water cylinder.
Our system only heats what’s required leading to reduced heat losses and quicker recovery times. A sensor provides a ''fuel gauge'' for the cylinder allowing the system to be scheduled in a smart way using machine learning. We are installing a fleet of systems called "The Internet of Tanks" to enable more renewables.
